WEDDING COLLECTION
Am I the right photographer for you?
If you're looking for someone to document your day in such a way that showcases the honest moments seeping with raw emotion: yes.
In the end, it's the little moments in this short life that end up meaning the most. The ones that fly by, sometimes without us even noticing. When I work a wedding, my goal is to capture the soul of an atmosphere, the energy in the air, the twinkling tears in eyes and smiles on faces. I want you to be able to scroll through your gallery or flip through your photo album, and see the story of your entire day retold back to you, detail by detail. When photography is done right, you can feel the emotion in the photos as you look through them. Memories become alive again in a way that they otherwise can't. To me, this is priceless.
I basically grew up wandering the woods barefoot, and with that comes a great appreciation for nature and a passion for working it into my photos in the most whimsical way I can. I'm proud to have grown up in the Driftless region of Wisconsin, and to be here raising my own family and running my own business. There's a special sort of excitement that comes over me when I'm hired to work weddings in this area, but I'm more than happy to travel for weddings, as well.
I'm a laid back person, I like to have fun, and I take my job seriously. Wedding days never go exactly as planned, and I've come to enjoy that. Through the years I've developed my own routines of smoothly navigating couples through their day in such a way that seems to be greatly appreciated. My favorite compliments are: "You made us so comfortable all day long", and "That wasn't so painful" (this particular comment usually comes from the groom and his guys).
I have a very photo journalistic approach to photography, and spend much of my time capturing the candid moments rather than posing you. I'm happy to do the typical posed family portraits and wedding party portraits, and I've come to a point of working through this routine quickly and painlessly, allowing everyone more time to enjoy each other's company. I also like to take the bride and groom out around sunset for some nice, intimate shots. Aside from that, I don't much enjoy posing people. If your wedding party has some fun ideas for goofy posed shots, I'm up for trying them out. Otherwise, I'm simply there to document your day as it naturally unfolds.
